All campgrounds, like RVs, are not equal. There are pros and cons, likes and dislikes, ups and downs. Briarcliffe in Myrtle Beach is the cream of the crop.

We all have our own idea of what we're looking for in a campground or RV Park. Some enjoy the challenge of a more primitive setting complete with fire ring and resident wood pecker in a neighboring tree. Others may look forward to amenities such as clean restrooms, laundry facilities and restaurants with shopping nearby. Then there are the home away from home crowd who like to back in onto their level site, drop the jacks, put out the satellite dish and turn on the coffee pot because they are home for the next seven days.

The Campground

Interestingly enough, Briarcliffe RV Park is the cream of the crop. A membership campground with a Coast to Coast affiliation, is located in the heart of prestigious Myrtle Beach South Carolina, just off of Route 17 (Kings Highway) midway between North Myrtle Beach and downtown Myrtle Beach. The campground is nestled between the white sandy beaches of the Atlantic Ocean and overlooks the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway. Pleasant office workers assign you your site, after which you can browse a small camp store. Wifi is also available, however, at a hefty price of $25.00 for a seven day stay.

Briarcliffe RV Park is an all-season campground where Snow Birds flock to stay put for a while during the winter months. Paved streets and level concrete back-in sites have three point full hookups. Street lights and quaint cottages give this campground a residential small town feel and two bath houses with laundry facilities are strategically located within the campground. Mini-golf, shuffleboard and an Olympic size swimming pool are all available for campers as well as a members lodge complete with game room, common rooms, exercise room and adult lounge. Church services are conducted on Sunday mornings and a memorial chapel on the grounds is available for reflection and quiet meditation.

What's Near

Briarcliffe is within walking distance of Barefoot Landing located adjacent to the campground on the Intracoastal Waterway. You can take a walk along the boardwalk and enjoy an afternoon or two of a shopping/dining/entertainment experience you'll want to make an annual event.

While staying at Briarcliffe RV Park you're only a short drive from all the necessities. Walmart and Tanger Shopping Center, grocery stores, thrifty boutiques and indoor flea markets are plentiful along Kings Highway and a myriad of other stores of various interests. Certainly worth mentioning are at least three, to my knowledge, Krispy Kreme stores where the delicacy, fresh and warm, relentlessly beckons.

For the ocean lover, the beach is undoubtedly the reason for the visit to Myrtle Beach. The excitement, hustle and bustle of high rise hotels, clubs and an amusement park atmosphere of downtown Myrtle Beach is drawing; it's the warmth of the afternoon sun on your face, the smell of salt water, the sound of crashing waves and the sand soft beneath your feet, is enough to bring this Snow Bird back year after year.

What's Needed

In my opinion – and everyone may not agree – but what's needed in Briarcliffe RV Park are fire rings. The first thing you'll notice even before backing into your site is the absence of a fire ring. It's the smell of wood burning that draws people to your site, the crackling warmth of a campfire that causes them to linger. Conversation is encouraged and life long friendships are birthed around a campfire. With that in mind, this would be the only negative aspect of this RV Park.

What's New

Lastly, there is always something new to experience while living on the road in a rolling home. A new part of the country to explore, new surroundings to experience, new friends to meet. Here in Briarcliffe, all of the above are applicable.
