The difference between a campground and an RV Park are the amenities. Sycamore Lodge offers quiet seclusion, stately elegance within a golf lovers paradise.

Sycamore Lodge is one of three private, membership only RV parks under Travel Resorts of America. From the moment you turn onto Sycamore Lane you know you are beginning a different type of camping experience. The roads leading to the RV Park are rural and the surroundings are serene. Small garden shops and local nurseries are nestled among acres of tall southern pines and it's not unusual to see a church on nearly every corner. Sycamore Lodge is located at 1059 Sycamore Lane in Jackson Springs N.C.

The Campground

The entrance draws you in to the early c.1900's lodge. Once a hunting camp back in the day, in a forest of pecan trees. Stories have it that the trees were harvested and replaced with pines. The lodge as we know it today was built from the very trees that grew on the property. The main living room is warm and welcoming; large tree trunks span overhead, and exposed logs envelope you as each wall meets at a walk in fireplace where on cold winter evenings houses a crackling fire for all to enjoy.

The Lodge, I affectionately refer to as 'The Big House', is available daily for playing games, quiet reading, puzzle building and Internet surfing. The large country kitchen and adjoining dining room are available for family gatherings and meal preparation. There is also a laundry area for your convenience.

What's New

There is so much to do here at Sycamore Lodge. The Hen House is the gathering room for many activities, Church, crafts and pot luck dinners. The on site activities director keeps the youngsters hopping, summertime pool activities are endless and there is a jacuzzi available for mom and dad as well as a fully appointed playground situated on sand. The campground has recently added a new Putt Putt mini golf course and also has a sand volleyball court, shuffle board and a horseshoe pit. A large game room complete with pool table, video games and a large screen television and comfortable seating area is a rainy day retreat for restless teens. Holidays are a special time here at Sycamore Lodge, spent with family and friends, old and newly acquired.

There are several cabins for those members who don't have an RV but do have the cabin option included in their membership. A large pond on the property is stocked with fish and can be enjoyed on a catch and release basis. There are paddle boats and a second playground situated by the lake as well as a walking/bike path and nature trail to explore, where large North Carolina Sandhills pine cones are plentiful and ready to be included in your wintertime crafts.

What's Near

Sycamore Lodge is somewhat secluded, nestled among acres of tall straight whispering pines, mounds of aromatic pine straw and miles of countryside. The locals travel to Aberdeen, about 15 miles through the country to Hwy 1.

Restaurants and shopping centers dot the way on Hwy 1 to the well known 15/501 that leads to Walmart, Fresh Market, Olive garden and so much more. With some navigational skills you'll also find a Goodwill, Habitat Re-store, coffee roaster and the locally renowned Fifi's up scale resale shop. Highway 1 leads to Southern Pines, a town chock full of quaint little shops and local potteries. An ice cream parlor, bike shop, state store and last but certainly not least The Wine Cellar that offers wine tasting and a selection of wine from many well known North Carolina wineries.

For the golf enthusiast, one can play until their heart's content as Sycamore Lodge is in close proximity to many of the many Pinehurst area country clubs and golf courses.

What's Needed

The community laundry facilities are in the middle of the park. Several washers and dryers, a large table for folding clothes and plenty of reading material is available for while you wait. Adjoining the laundry room are several private bathroom/shower room combinations, heated and air conditioned seasonally for your comfort.

The General Store is located adjacent to 'The Big House', manned by not men but helpful ladies who are equipped to answer all your questions, assist in acquiring and reserving your site as well as imparting storage information for storing your RV on the property. The campground store is fully stocked with anything you could possibly need for a pleasant camping vacation.

Come browse around the store and choose from DVDs to ice cream sandwiches...fishing rods and charcoal grills, and when you're finished, set a spell on the stores farmhouse style front porch. Choose one of several rockers and take a few minutes to enjoy the surroundings or chat awhile with a friend while you're 'home' in Jackson Springs.
